The historical commission is committed to preserving and learning about the history of Colorado County. Its most visible impact is in the creation of historical markers to commemorate sites and individuals who have contributed to the heritage of Colorado County, cemetery markers acknowledging the contributions of our ancestors, and in obtaining listings on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Colorado County Commissioners Court appoints members to the historical commission for two year terms in January of odd-numbered years or as needed at other times. There is a modest annual membership fee of $10.00.

The Colorado County Historical Commission normally meets the third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November at 7:00 p.m. (subject to change). Our meeting location changes each month (**click on the date links below to see meeting locations). All meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome. All Historical Commission Agendas are posted on the Public Notices Calendar.
